Flemish Doomsday Predictor Not Happy With Disaster Movie ‘2012’
“Hollywood has stolen my apocalypse story”
2012 Movie - Patrick Geryl on How To Survive 2012

In three years the world will end. That is the message of ‘2012’, a new Hollywood blockbuster that runs in movie theaters worldwide since Wednesday the 11 of November, 2009. “Not fiction, but sad reality” says Flemish (Belgian) Author and Researcher Patrick Geryl (54). “In December of 2012 I will be safely hidden in a concrete Arc in the high mountains of the Spanish Sierra Nevada together with 150 survivors. We will survive the disaster, unlike the rest of the world.”

The Belgian newspaper ‘Het Laatste Nieuws (HLN)’ brings this story at dawn of the release of Emmerich’s movie ‘2012’.

Tidal waves, volcano eruptions and earthquakes will destroy our planet in a matter of hours on December 21, 2012. The natural disaster is a direct result of the pole shift. “A gigantic solar storm will cause the inner core of the Earth to stop and then start turning in the opposite direction”, says Geryl. “Because the oceans react with delay, a tsunami of two kilometers (1.3 miles) will arise and wipe away everything. Volcanoes will erupt and the Earth will shake. This is the end of the world as we know it.”

Researcher Geryl – “I finished school at the age of 18, but been passionately reading and researching every scientific publication since I was 12” – was the first to predict the doomsday. For this he had to crack the code of the Maya’s. Their astronomical theory and how he solved their mystery is explained in his books ‘The Orion Prophecy’ and ‘The World Cataclysm in 2012’:

The Orion Prophecy The World Cataclysm in 2012

One year ago, HLN interviewed Geryl and published an extensive article in its newspaper. With the new Hollywood movie just being released, also the American media has discovered the Flemish researcher. NBC has broadcasted a two hour documentary in which Geryl was extensively interviewed. Also Canadian CBC and History Channel already made significant reports with Geryl. “For years I have been portrayed as extremist and fantast”, he says. “Scientists ignored my work, and the audience was laughing at me. But now all of a sudden everybody has started taking me more seriously.”

This change happened after two significant events. First there was the discovery of an gigantic underground labyrinth in the Egyptian desert. ‘The biggest miracle of Old Times’ was described by authors such as Herodotus and Plinius the Elderly, yet today’s archeologists did not believe the existence of this labyrinth. In 2008 Geryl, together with Louis De Cordier, proved the existence and located the labyrinth which is covered under a thick layer of desert sand. This was huge discovery for mankind.

The second event dates from this year: the American space agency NASA published in an official report that ‘at any time now’ a major solar storm is to be expected. “According to NASA such a storm could wipe out the electric grid worldwide”, says Geryl. “This would wipe out 90% of the American population in a very short period of time. And this info does not come from me but from NASA directly. NASA predicts more or less the same as what I did years ago. Although my solar storm is even more destructive than theirs.” (laughs)

Now that ‘2012’ appears in cinema theaters worldwide, Geryl will gain even more attention. Although he is not quite delighted with the Hollywood movie. “I sincerely am considering filing a lawsuit against the director of ‘2012’ as well as the film studio”, he says. “Already in the trailer alone were seven elements that came straight out of my books. My American lawyer advised to await to file suit until we have had the opportunity to watch the film in its entirety. But if it is clear that I was robbed of my work, they will have to pay. It’s as simple as that.”

Geryl will surely be able to use the proceeds of such a trial as he has started a survival project together with Louis De Cordier. Not coincidently, as of the day of the movie release, those interested can buy their seat in the survival project ‘SOL2012’ for 50,000 Euros (approx. USD 75,000). This project, which has yet to be built, will consist of a state-of-the-art bunker complex high in the Spanish maintain range, Sierra Nevada. Didn’t Geryl tell us last year he would be in the mountains of South Africa instead since the survival chances would be best on that continent? “True. And I went to visit several places down there, but virtually every place above 2000 meters (1.3 miles) is a nature preserve. You cannot buy any dirt up there.”

Arc of Noah

Thus the original plans were altered. De Cordier – leader of the survival project – and Geryl recently went into the Sierra Nevada mountains in the south of Spain where they visited two possible sites for their project. “Spanish architects have already drawn up a design and we also identified a construction company that is specialized in so called ‘domes’, which are round monolithically shaped constructions. The concrete walls will be more than one meter (over 3 feet) in diameter, which shields off nuclear radiation. This is important since with the 2012 disaster, all nuclear facilities will melt.”

‘SOL2012’ will not only be a location to survive Judgment Day; the project has been conceived in a much broader sense. “If there would not be a apocalypse, we simply make a big celebration party”, it says in the development texts of the website that went live on November 11, 2009. To be taken more seriously, De Cordier and Geryl decided to make ‘SOL2012’ a art project. “’SOL2012’ will become the highest located and best protected library of the world”, says Geryl. “Besides all possible available knowledge of our current age printed on paper and on electronic discs, there will be an as large as possible variety of seeds stored covering as many plants and trees as possible. We also foresaw space of some animals. ‘SOL2012’ will become a modern, sophisticated Arc of Noah. The sole purpose is to enable the rebuilding of civilization in case this would be required after December 21, 2012.” The complex will be able to accommodate up to 150 people once built. An adult must pay 50,000 Euros (approx. USD 75,000). “Not cheap”, admits Geryl. “But the price includes food reserves for two years. In addition the project foresees to attempt to grow vegetables and fruits using artificial light. You won’t be forced to eat astronaut food every day.” (laughs) The survival project by the two Flemish guys isn’t the only project in the world. “True. In South Africa and in America a few groups are currently building their survival sites. However they stand only a small chance of survival as all of these projects are built on altitudes below 2000 meters (1.3 miles). According to my calculations, the destructing tsunami waves will wipe out everything lower than that altitude.”

Good location

The Sierra Nevada is a good location according to Geryl as there are no nuclear facilities in the vicinity nor are there volcanoes nearby. There is however one catch: “Availability of land to buy. Not easy as with most other safe regions, also the Spanish Sierra Nevada is for a large part a protected nature preserve. This is why we do not exclude South Africa as of yet.”

In the project charter we read that De Cordier has two alternative locations: Namibia and the Atlas mountain range in Morocco. Geryl meanwhile isn’t only in search of a feasible location, he also is looking for a new girlfriend. His ex-girlfriend dumped him a few months ago. “All of a sudden she wasn’t sure anymore whether she wanted to survive the end of the world”, he laughs bitter. “She said: ‘if I stay with you until then, I will only be confronted with it even more. And I do not feel like that’. Understandable, but that leaves me behind single.”

A small problem because the childless Geryl by principle choice (‘there are already too many humans on Earth’) would like to become father after the apocalypse. “If there are only 150 people remaining, it will be my duty to procreate”, he says. “I have noticed recently that children are getting much more intelligent than adults. Many children, mainly teenagers, write me to say they believe me but that their parents simply laugh it away. It’s so distressing that tears run down my face. But OK, every individual needs to determine for themselves what to do at the end of 2012. For me at least it is a done deal.

Surviving the end of the world is not cheap:

Whomever wants to reserve a space in the bunkers that Patrick Geryl and Louis De Cordier are building to survive the apocalypse, needs to come up with quite a sum of money. Below is the price list valid through the end of 2009. Afterwards prices will increase. There is an ‘open ticket’ available for example for TV channels who would like to offer the ticket in a TV show as price money.
