Solar Storm Could Reach Us As Of Today, Tuesday August 3rd!

As early as today, our planet Earth could be hit with the solar storm of the past days which has now travelled its way into space to reach the vicinity of our planet. Scientists have told New Scientist about the potential threat we are all facing. The extraordinary solar activity of the past weekend was observed by several satellites, including the new Solar Dynamics Observatory of NASA, which registered shock waves originating from our sun directed towards planet Earth, reports New Scientist.

Previously, researchers such as Patrick Geryl have stated that the changing of the magnetic field of the sun would be commencing around this time, being the prelude of major changes on our planet and ultimately lead to the cataclysm as described in The World Cataclysm in 2012.

Our magnetic shield could be seriously disturbed by the solar flares, which in itself would have serious, if not disastrous impact on our planet and its inhabitants. One of the signs of the magnetic storms reaching the Earth would be a beautiful spectacle of light on the north pole…yet the results may be quite  a bit less ‘beautiful’. Scientists previously warned that such magnetic storms could wipe out several of our satellites orbiting our planet, paralysing our worldwide communication system. NASA said that such magnetic storms could lead to serious power grid failures, yet the solar storm of past weekend is unlikely to be strong enough to cause such events. Yet researchers see this week’s solar storms only as the beginning of a series of much stronger storms that could easily cause such problems on Earth. The major peaks have been predicted by scientists to happen close to 2013…which is coincidently (or not) coinciding with the December 21, 2012 date.

How far the current solar storms will impact our infrastructure and communication system is yet unclear. Yet that these storms are extraordinary nobody denies. “The sun ignited a wonderful set of fireworks” says British expert Lucie Green of the Mullard Space Science Laboratory in Surrey. “This was a rare event: two virtually simultaneous outbursts on the sun on different locations, both catapulted towards our planet. Such explosions happen whenever gigantic magnetic structures on the sun lose their stability and gravity can no longer hold on to them. Compare it to a tensioned spring that suddenly is released. Both explosions seem to come our way, yet the speed they travel with can be different. The chances are big that we’ll see strong and long-lasting effects of them on Earth, including an intensified polar light.”
